Chris Gronkowski, brother of all pro tight end Rob Gronkowski, went on WEEI’s radio show to discuss his new ice shaker bottle, however; that wasn’t the only thing he mentioned while on the show.

Chris confirmed rumors that we all heard on Sunday Night Football that the Patriots were trying to trade Rob Gronkowski to the Lions during the offseason. Gronkowski then threatened to retire, saying this week that “Tom Brady is my quarterback”. It appears that Rob Gronkowski, who is in his 9th season, only wants to play the game of football if the ball he is catching is coming from the right hand of Tom Brady. When all of these trade rumors were floating around this offseason, it was highlighted that Rob Gronkowksi sat out OTA’s, a summer training program he usually attends. Chris Gronkowski said that his brother just wanted “freedom” and that he was getting paid like a “mediocre” tight end.

Chris then went on to say that the Patriots’ wide receivers aren’t performing the way they need to, and that is hindering Rob’s performance on the field. The Patriots receiving corps are having a very lackluster start to the season, and Chris wasn’t afraid to highlight that. Rob Gronkowski was asked about his brother’s interview and said, “My brother doesn’t speak for me”.

The Patriots’ 1-2 start to the season may be why there is a lot of negative media surrounding the team, but as the old saying goes: Winning cures all.
